German coach Löw's diplomatic team selection for the second match against Sweden
The second match at the World Cup in Russia is a final for Germany. If the team of Joachim Löw loses against Sweden, it is out. All information from Sochi before and during the match here in the live ticker.
Defending champion Germany is fighting in the evening in Sochi against Sweden without Mesut Özil and Sami Khedira against the first preliminary round-out at a World Cup. Germany coach Joachim Loew makes four changes in the starting eleven against the 1-0 defeat by Mexico. The world champions Özil and Khedira will be replaced by Marco Reus and Sebastian Rudy. For the injured Mats Hummels Antonio Rüdiger comes again in the central defense. Jonas Hector, missing against Mexico due to an infection, returns to the left back. For him, Marvin Plattenhardt has to give way.
After the 2: 1 of the Mexicans against South Korea a defeat against Sweden would seal the German departure after the second group match. Mexico and Sweden would then each have six points in the account. With a win, the German team, however, would get the chance to the knockout stages.
In a draw, the Löw team would have to win the final game against South Korea and at the same time hope for Schützenhilfe the then qualifying for the knockout round Mexican against Sweden. In case of equality of points then the goal difference between Germany and Sweden would have to decide on progress.
